Harmonia Boomwhacker Workshops are very practical fun sessions for up to 35 children at a time which can include the following:

Exploring Sounds and Rhythms  Movement   Performing

Composing    Improvising      Aural Skills training 

 

INSET training for teachers can also be included by special arrangement.
All instruments are provided and costs include transport.
Activities may include
- fully harmonised performances of simple melodies, compositions on a requested theme, pattern and rhythm work, pitch exploration.

Attainment targets

Level 1  Repeat short rhythmic and melodic patterns and create and choose sounds in response to given starting points. Perform with awareness of others identify simple repeated patterns and take account of musical instructions.

Level 2  Perform simple patterns and accompaniments keeping to a steady pulse. Choose carefully and order sounds within simple structures such as beginning, middle, end, and in response to given starting points.

Level 3  Perform rhythmically simple parts. Improvise repeated patterns and combine several layers of sound with awareness of the combined effect.

Level 4  While performing by ear and from simple notations maintain own part with awareness of how the different parts fit together and the need to achieve an overall effect. Improvise melodic and rhythmic phrases as part of a group performance. Suggest improvements to own and others' work, commenting on how intentions have been achieved.

Level 5  Perform significant parts from memory and from notations with awareness of own contribution such as leading others, taking a solo part and/or providing rhythmic support. Improvise melodic and rhythmic material within given structures.
